66 Trains Update 5-5-24

Reopening update

Hey friends! Just wanted to do a quick update on the status of 66 Trains. Our landlord’s “fix-it” crew started on our building Friday (5/3). As most of you know, they framed the walls that were destroyed the day of the “drive thru”, and everyone was waiting on insurance before proceeding any further.

The crew got the interior walls up Friday, and cleaned up the debris pile that was in the parking lot. There’s still a lot to do, however. They have to finish the interior walls (including some electrical work for additional lighting since we got rid of the windows that were in that corner), ceiling and any other work that gets discovered in the process. They also will have to stucco the exterior, and paint.

Once the crew finishes their interior work, ours begins. We have to rebuild some displays, reorder the missing/lost stock, clean extensively (there’s drywall, dust, glass and s*!t EVERYWHERE!), then move salvaged stock from storage and restock the store. It’s going to take a while.

Target date

The target date is June 1 for reopening. Hopefully we will be back up and running earlier than that, but we’re also hoping it’s not any later than that. Either way, we will let everyone know when we have a date set.

A Favor

In the meantime, we have a favor to ask. If you see activity at the store prior to our to-be-announced opening date, please DO NOT stop to see what’s going on. Please let the building crew do their jobs to repair the building, and please let us do what we need to do to get 66 Trains reopened. The more time that we have to stop what we’re doing to explain what we’re doing, the longer it’s going to take for us to do what we need to do. While we appreciate any and all offers of assistance, this is something that we need to take care of ourselves.

We love each and every one of our customers and know you are eager to have YOUR train store back in business. But believe me, no one is as eager as we are! We look forward to seeing all of you again
